I’ve mentioned before about the need to write blogs and articles all over the internet to create your internet footprint and to leave the content where your target market are searching for further information. This helps to engage them with you much earlier on in the sales process when they are completing their research.

The Google Adwords Tool is great for working out which keywords to focus on in your titles and main body of your content.

Even though Google has the most data when it comes to web searches, their tools don’t give you everything you need for a brainstorming session to seek out those all-important keywords and help you build up your internet footprint.

Wordtracker.com is a great online tool which fills in the gaps left out by Google. Although Wordtracker does have a paid version of its services, you can sign up for a free account at http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com.

Enter a keyword into the system and click “hit me”, and Wordtracker will provide you with a whole ream of related data to help you brainstorm further.  The great thing about Wordtracker gets its search data from other sources than Google, so you get a much wider variety of results to work with.

Also, instead of just entering a single keyword, try entering the following words at the start of your search: “who”, “what”, “where”, “when” and “why”. Start a new search for each of these words, and the results you will get will be examples of questions people are asking in relation to your keyword.

This is a fantastic way to understand exactly what questions people are asking online in relation to your keywords, so that you can begin to generate content to specifically answer these questions.

By creating content which specifically answers the exact questions which people are asking online you can start to build up an impressive portfolio of expert advice, which will help you to build your internet footprint and be found when your prospects go online in search of the products and services you provide.
